This pitcher was made in the faience factory in Saint Clement, France which opened in 1786 by Jacques Chambrette. Monsieur Chambrette became a favored supplier for Marie Antoinette. This particular pitcher was produced between 1920 & 1950. The Gallic rooster, in French: le coq gaulois, is an unofficial national symbol of France.
This earthenware Barbotine rooster is brightly glazed in green, orange and red.
